It’s October and we are now steadily moving into fall. I am already missing summer and getting anxiety that in exactly one month we will be bombarded with Black Friday ads and won’t be able to escape images of snow, Santa, and ugly sweaters! I feel like September has represented change for me my entire life. Back to school, new jobs, big moves, they have always occurred in September. In those short 30 days, I also notice the most dramatic change in seasons compared to other months. The amount of daylight, colors of the sky, and drop in temperature, in my opinion, is drastically different on September 1st than it is on September 30th.
All this change takes some adjusting! Luckily, to cope with the shock of winter approaching (yes I know I live in Southern California!) we have fall fashion and I am really loving the trends for this season! One thing in particular is this year’s autumn color palette. While “Living Coral” is the official Pantone color of the year, Pistachio has emerged as the headline color of this season.
I got really excited when I found out this color was trending. While I love brown and amber hues, they can be so cliché and overdone during this time of year. Pistachio shades are not what you would typically expect, and can really help shake up a basic fall wardrobe. I also think this color is surprisingly versatile, which helps during the seasonal transition.

Best Pistachio color shade for your skin tone
Like any color – finding the right shade for your skin tone is key. I wrote about this topic in a recent post about finding the perfect LWD. While pistachio is definitely a distinct color, you can pick a variation of it that works for you! If you have a warm skin tone, like me, look for pieces that have olive and sage hues. If you have a cool skin tone, try with mint and sea foam undertones.
How to wear the Pistachio Color Trend

Pair with Denim
One of the easiest ways to rock the color trend is with a good old fashion pair of denim jeans. If your top has more sage hues like mine, opt for a lighter wash. This makes for a great casual weekend look. If your piece has more of a lime tone to it, try out a darker pair.

Pair with neutrals
Pistachio goes really well with neutrals, especially khaki and creams. Create a chic, sleek sophisticated look with pieces with textures currently trending like satin and cashmere. Or go in the opposite direction, with a utilitarian look by incorporating pieces with details like pockets, zippers, and belts.

Monochromatic Pistachio
If you want to be bold, go with a a head-to-toe monochromatic look. You can easily achieve this with a matching suit set or jumpsuit. Suit sets are really popular right now. Walk into a room in a pistachio suit set, and you’ll really make a statement! You could also create a look created with pieces of different shades and textures to really stand out!
Accessorize
Not sure if you’re ready to get crackin’ with the whole pistachio vibe? Trying to incorporate the trend in an outfit with a subtle accessory, like a scarf, or bag. You can even try a headband which is a super popular hair accessory right now. Also, a coat or a jacket is a really easy way to wear a more edgy version of the trend, and not too over the top if you pair it with basics like jeans and a white tee.
Shop The Pistachio Trend
Below are some of my favorite pieces to shop that can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe in any of the ways I just mentioned!
I feel like this is really a love it or hate it trend, but I’m all on board for it! What do you guys think? Am I nuts 😉 🥜 ?!
