I talked a little about the marigold color trend in my festival fashion inspo guide, but this color deserves its own post because it’s definitely an attention grabber! Marigold was the trending color on the runways during fashion week and it’s to see why. Pantone selected it as one of its “colors of the year” which encourages designers to incorporate it into their collections. This bright, bold hue will turn heads! The color originates from the flower. Marigolds exist in multiple varieties, but all boast a vibrant, golden hue often associated with the sun. The color just exudes brightness, and warmth – something I’ve been craving after this long, cold winter! It brings me back to warm, lazy August days spent poolside sipping on cold cocktails without a care in the world!
How to wear marigold
Marigold comes in an array of yellow to orange hues which makes it easy to find one that compliments your skin tone. If you have pale skin with blue undertones, look for a shade that skews yellow. If you have a darker or a olive skin tone, try a shade that has more orange tones.
Marigold is a great color for spring, and a great alternative to pastels which can get old and monotonous after a while, in my opinion. It’s one of those rare colors you can wear throughout summer and even into early fall. Another great thing about Marigold? Surprisingly, it goes well with many colors. It pairs fabulous with white, denim, navy, and even black! It also goes well with brown hues. Honestly, you can pair it with pretty much any color of the rainbow.
Here are some of my favorite marigold looks I’ve been rocking.

Look #1 Marigold Retro Vibe
I saw this top online at Forever 21 and instantly fell in love with it! I love retro vibe of the marigold floral print. The off-the shoulder ruffle detail adds a touch of feminine flare that’s perfect for spring. I decided to pair it with a denim skirt to keep in line with the femininity of the look. As summer approaches, I might swap out denim for a white skirt or pants to give it a brighter, tropical vibe. I rounded out the outfit with my favorite pair of white booties, to play off the retro theme of the top and to make the white in the outfit pop. A marigold top like this is a perfect way to play with the trend if you aren’t ready to go with a more head-to-toe look

Look #2 Marigold Spring Dress
I also got this dress at Forever21 and it quickly become one of my favorite spring pieces. I love the button detail down the front and the midi cut. It’s simple yet bold, all at the same time. If you are ready to make a splash with color for spring, this is your dress. It’s a great alternative to a traditional spring floral dress and will definitely have you standing out in a crowd!
It makes a statement on its own, but easy to accessorize. You can dress it up, or keep it casual depending on what you pair it with. In this video, I took some of my favorite accessories and came up with over 1,000 combinations of ways to style the dress for any occasion!
