My last post was all about bikinis, which got me thinking about doing a post dedicated to accessorizing swimwear looks to take them to the next level. I’m really feeling all the summer accessory trends going on right now! There are some great trends that are easy to incorporate into your swim attire to achieve a super stylish fashion forward beach look. I had a lot of fun integrating a lot of these trends in my recent trip to St. Lucia that I wanted to share with all of you.
Here is a round-up of my favorite summer accessory trends:

Trend #1: Sunglass Chain
If you followed my Coachella content, you know that I’ve been rocking the sunglass chain for a while. It’s become one of my favorite accessories because it’s such an easy way to add a subtle detail to your look. Also, as the Queen of losing sunglasses, I can ensure they are always around my neck so I never misplace another pair! Belly chains and body jewelry were popular trends past summers, but have slowly made their way out of style. I think the sunglass chain is a good replacement. I’ve seen a sudden spike in popularity on Instagram these past couple of weeks with many new bloggers beginning to rock the trend so I think it’s safe to say you still have time to invest in one before it goes out of style!

Trend #2: Sea Shell Jewelry
Sea Shell and puka shell jewelry have staged a comeback in 2019! I had a necklace that I was OBSESSED with as a kid, so it’s a fun trip down memory lane to sport one again! This year, gold shell pieces has been added into mix along with the natural, classic varieties. The sea shell choker is really popular and fun to layer with different lengths and necklace styles. Shell bracelets are Summer’s arm candy that you can never wear enough of, so layer up! Sea shell anklets are also super fun and easy to incorporate into beachwear looks. Try pairing one with a dainty classic chain.

Trend #3 Hair Clips

Pearl embellished hair clips started the hair clip trend earlier this year and now they have exploded in popularity with a million varieties. There are so many ways to wear hair clips, too. I love getting creative with them to achieve different looks. You can wear a single statement clip, multiple all over your entire head, or use them to pulled back your hair to one side. I love incorporating them into summer swimwear looks because they help keep my hair out of my face in the heat, and they reflect beautifully in the sunlight to add some shine!

Trend #4: Hair Scrunchies
Scrunchies are another hair accessory trend that have made a comeback in the last year. They are my go-to for no wash days, and when I have wet hair after a swim. I just throw my hair in a high pony or bun, wrap a scrunchie around it, and call it a day! I look for bold colors and fun prints that match my swimsuits to add an extra pop to my look!

Trend #5: Head Scarfs
Head scarfs are another popular hair accessory trend you will see through summer and well into fall. I think they are the epitome of chic and add a level of sophistication to any swimwear look! I pair with big sunglasses for an old Hollywood Glam vibe. Like hair clips, there are so many way you can style. You can invest in one scarf, yet never replicate the same look! My favorite styles are the bandana and head wrap tie. It’s an easy way to keep your hair back and looking chic after a dip in the water, or even if you’re just having a bad hair day!

Trend# 6 Woven & Bucket Hats
You’ve probably seen large woven seagrass hats all over Instagram this summer, particularly the Lack of Color’s woven fray boater hat. It may be a little overdone, but for a good reason! This is the ultimate beach hat that is both stylish and functional. It’s great for keeping your face shaded and protected from the sun. It goes with almost any swim look and is the perfect hat to bring on a summer vacation! I wore mine every day in St. Lucia!
The bucket hat has also made its way back into style this year! As a child who grew up in the 90’s, I will forever associate the bucket hat with the Kangol brand and LL Cool J, but I think it’s a fun trend to revive if you can pull it off! I have yet to invest in a one, but if I do, I think I might go bold with a colorful pattern. We’ll see 🙂
