A pair of knee-high boots, a brown corduroy skirt, and a black top is my go-to Fall outfit that I recycle year after year. It’s a look where you really can’t go wrong!
But I like to take it up a notch by incorporating a new Fall trend into the outfit each year; to stand out a bit and not come across totally basic (even though, yes I am aware this picture in a pumpkin patch is totally basic 😉 ) As a petite who is pear shaped, shirt trends are usually the easiest for me to pull off because they are often the most flattering. Pants and booties can get a little tricky, so I tend to update this look each year with a new top.
Sleeves, necklines, and lengths for shirts change every season. Last Fall, the bell sleeve was all the range. 2016 was the year of the lace-up shirt. This year, strong shoulders and ruched sleeves are having a major moment.
Every season I buy an affordable long-sleeved black top that incorporates the latest trend and I send last year’s down packing to the Salvation Army.

Skirt: Lulu*s
Boots: Michael Kors
Belt: Tory Burch
Sunglasses: Target
I got this black long sleeve top with the ruched sleeve detail on Shein for $11 dollars! Its simple enough to pair with so many outfits all season, and yet it has just enough on-trend flair to kick a classic outfit up a notch.

Because I only spent $12 on it, I won’t feel bad about tossing it during my spring cleaning and I can afford to invest into more expensive timeless pieces like my boots. I got these Michael Kors boots 4 years ago for around $250. Being petite, it’s hard to find a good pair of knee high boots that work with my height, but these ones did so I’ve held onto them for dear life! I’ve taken them to the cobbler (shoe repair in 2018 speak, but I love the word cobbler 🙂 ). 2 times to repair the heel! I’ve had them mistaken for a similar Stuart Weitzman pair numerous times; and I may or may not point out the correction 🙂 Not sure how many years these bad boys have left, but I will wear them until I literally wear them to them down to the soles one last time.
