Spring Transition Outfits You Can Wear Right Now

Thank goodness the groundhog saw his shadow this year, because I don’t know how much longer of winter I can take!   I know those of you in the Midwest or East Coast are probably rolling your eyes, but it’s been an unusually wet and cold winter here in LA!  Regardless of where you live, I am sure you too are probably anxiously awaiting the arrival of those longer, warmer spring days.

By now you’re probably getting sick of your winter wardrobe too.  If you’re like me, that cute coat you were obsessing over just a few months ago doesn’t bring you that same feeling of joy as it did that first November day the temperature dropped low enough for you to rip off those tags and strut it out of the house for the first time.  You’re ready to break out the florals and hit the “confirm purchase” button on one of those cute little mini dress ads that have been following you all over the Internet since the day after Valentine’s Day.  And while Instagram and corporate advertising agencies might fool you into thinking its spring – one step out the front door will snap you back into the reality that there are still 28 official days left of what seems like a never-ending winter.

But don’t let the weather bring your spring vibes down!  Transitioning into the new season can be difficult when you live in places where there is still snow on the ground, but it can be done!  It’s all about incorporating new spring pieces with your go-to winter staples.  Here are a couple of outfit ideas that can help get you out of your winter wardrobe slump and springing forward for good.

This is the same cable-knit sweater I mentioned in my other post that I wore in NYC.  Ever since then, it’s been my go-to winter staple.  Instead of pairing it with denim jeans and over-the-knee boots like I did when I was in New York, I paired it with these white wide-leg pants I recently got from Zara.  The sweater screams winter, and the pants are traditional spring piece, but the neutral tones and juxtaposition of the fabrics work together to make for a great transitional look.  If you live in a climate where open toe shoes will send you into hypothermia, wear with tan booties and top off the look with a tan trench coat.  When the temperatures finally make their way into the high 60’s – swap the cable-knit for a flirty floral top.

Joggers like these are a great transitional piece.  I got these ones from Zara and I am obsessed.  Navy is a great transitional color for spring that’s easy to pair with florals and pastels.  I like that these have the leopard print detail down the sides, carrying one of Fall/Winter’s biggest trends into Spring where it will continue to dominate street wear attire.   A month ago, I’d opt to pair them with a cropped sweater but for a spring transitional look, I paired them with a tied white button down top.  I wanted to dress up this look here so I added the popular chain belt to add a bit of edgy detail, and rounded off the outfit with nude heels.  If you wanted to dress this look down you could wear chunky sneakers instead.  If you need to make it more weather appropriate add a tan moto jacket or trench coat.

Below are some great options you can add or swap into either of these outfits and still keep the transitional feel.

Hopefully these outfits will cure your winter blues and get you swinging into the new season!
